Stress is a common problem now a day that is affecting us very often. We all are experiencing it from different sources like jobs, relationship, finances, lifestyle, social, illness and when these daily stresses stay for a long time it becomes a chronic stress. Chronic stress rarely gives chance to your autonomic nervous system to relax.
Stress is a consequence of failure to respond emotionally and physically to external circumstances. It is difficult to avoid it in current lifestyles but measures can be taken to overcome and control it before it becomes chronic stress. Stress can be identified if there are symptoms like frequent headaches, high blood pressure, general anxiety, frustration, lower immunity, frequent attacks of cold and flu, lowered libido and fuzzy thinking pattern.
Stress not only makes people threatened to the external circumstances but also generates the doubts and suspicion on ones capabilities. These stages will lead to behavioral changes like smoking or drinking heavily, as to get immediate chemical relief. Later the pressure impaired decision making ability and creativity that result in low performance.
Yoga and meditation techniques are very effective in stress management rather than taking pills. Meditation helps in expanding the consciousness, resulting in a deep state of relaxation thus relaxing the nervous system. Meditation is a therapy that has been used since centuries as a method of self realization but at the same time it has also benefited humans in psychological issues. Meditation is not just mere relaxation or concentration, it is expanding the awareness. It removes the negativity of mind and increasing the clarity and will power.
